Welcome to South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal. One of the more popular holiday destinations in South Africa is KwaZulu Natal offering a wide variety of accommodation and tourist opportunities.

KwaZulu Natal - The Kingdom of the Zulus

The dramatic Drakensberg mountain range in KwaZulu Natal, where visitors can enjoy some of the most spectacular scenic views, offer some challenging Drakensberg Mountain hikes to even the most experienced mountain climbers. Accommodation in the Drakensberg ranges from Self Catering chalets to upmarket Drakensberg Hotels and Guest Houses. Many of the Drakensberg accommodation venues are host to well-stocked trout dams, horse riding, quad bike trails and many more activities which are generally available in mountainous terrain. If you find suitable accommodation in the KwaZuluNatal Central Drakensberg area, it will be worth your while to visit the Bird Show as well as the Drakensberg Choir.

In addition to the glorious Drakensberg Mountains, KwazuluNatal sports a magnificent sub-tropical coastline, lapped by the warm Indian Ocean. KwaZulu Natal beaches are a paradise for sunbathers, scuba divers and anglers alike. There are numerous Blue Flag beaches along the entire KZN Coastline which are regarded as safe swimming beaches, protected by shark nets. KwaZulu Natal North Coast accommodation and beaches have become particularly popular, especially during school holidays. Many of the KZN North Coast self catering and guest house units are situated directly on the beachfront and are worth investigating. North Coast towns such as Ballito, Salt Rock, Chakas Rock and Sheffield Beach are amongst the favourite North Coast accommodation choices.

KwaZulu Natal Midlands - It is here in KwaZulu Natal where many historic battles took place and where you will still find a thriving Zulu culture with it's traditions still in practice today. Anglo Boer Wars, Anglo Zulu Wars and Zulu Boer wars were played out over the rocky, bushveld terrein. Natal Midlands Accommodation in Dundee, Newcastle and Ladysmith are amongst the favourites Midlands towns from which to launch your historic investigations of the numerous battle sites. (Rorke's Drift, Rosetta, Balgowa, Isandlwana, Majuba and Ladysmith itself are amongst the favourites).

The Climate of KwaZulu Natal which ranges from about 10 degrees in winter to and average of about 32 degrees in Summer, offers ideal conditions for wildlife to flourish and it is home to many nature reserves, game parks and some of the oldest conservation areas in Africa. Northern KwaZulu Natal Game Reserves include, in particular Hluhluwe Game Reserve and Umfolozi Game Reserve. The Umfolozi Game Reserve accommodation only advertises self catering accommodation, Hilltop Game Reserve is situated in Hluhluwe and does offer catered game reserve accommodation. Tented camps are very popular in the Umfolozi Game reserve and wild animals are known to visit the camp sites - all very exciting.

KwaZulu Natal dive sites are known throughout the world. Scuba diving sites such as Aliwal shoal in Umkomaas and other scuba diving sites in Sodwana Bay, near St Lucia

Depending on your choice of holiday in KwaZulu Natal, there is an abundance of, and a variety of accommodation to suit all pockets. Accommodation in KZN ranges from self catering accommodation to catered guest house accommodation, hotels, game reserves etcetera.  Beachfront self catering accommodation along the entire KwaZulu Natal coast is particularly popular and should be booked well in advance. The same can be said for Drakensberg Hotels and Drakensberg self catering accommodation.
