Gauteng is sonder twyfel die hart van Suid-Afrika se industriële, kommersiële en finansïele instellings, wat vir ongeveer 40% van die land se welvaart verantwoordelik is. Alhoewel die kleinste van die 9 provinsies, is Gauteng die setel van die regering en administrasie. Dit bevat meer as 100 ambassades en hoë amptenary.
