West Coast National Park

The West Coast National Park was established to protect a section of the coastline, the Langebaan lagoon and 4 bird islands.

Throughout the year the focus is on the lagoon, except for a brief period every spring when the Postberg section of the Park draws thousands of visitors to view spectacular fields of flowers.
The Langebaan lagoon is said to be one of the great wetlands of the world. Each summer it is a bird watchers paradise when over 60 000 birds make it their homes, arriving from as far away as the Arctic, Greenland and even Siberia.

Other wildlife include the bat-eared fox, blue wildebeest, bontebok, zebra and African wild cat. Skate, ray and sand shark are a few of the fish species found in the lagoon.

Some of the leisure activities available are sailing, fishing and hiking.
