Die Afrikaanse Taalmonument
The Afrikaans Language Monument (die Taal) was unveiled on 10 October 1975 to commemorate the centennial of the Society of True Afrikaners.
The Taalmonument is situated on the slopes of the Paarl Mountain. The 3 granite domes that constitute the mountain glisten like 3 pearls when wet, which inspired the name "Paarl". The monument is a very popular tourist attraction and has a lovely restaurant that has panoramic views across the region.
There is also a beautiful garden behind the Taalmonument that is well worth a stroll. And for the more adventurous, there are hiking trails winding throughout the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve.

DIRECTIONS:
- take the Main Rd into Paarl from the N1 (ramp #55)
- turn left after 200m
- follow the signs to the Taalmonument
