The Forge

A combination of wow factor, rustic country elegance and romantic charm second-to-none has made The Forge at Oakhurst a top retreat for anyone looking for the ultimate in rural peace and quiet. (Although you may hear the distant banter from the feathered producers of our fresh farm eggs, who reside nearby.)

Sleeping a total of six, The Forge has two spacious bedrooms with king-size beds, as well as a mezzanine loft room with two additional kids’ beds. The main bedroom is ensuite while there is an additional shared bathroom off the living area. This 150-year-old stone cottage was one of the first buildings to be built at Oakhurst, still retaining its thick stone walls and exposed timber beams. The living area wraps around the cottage and is made up of a dining room, an equipped kitchen with a gas stove and a cosy lounge with fireplace.

The living area opens out via glass doors onto a lovely, covered deck with soothing views onto open fields and forests. Outdoors there is a secluded, open-air hot shower, dining table and braai area, as well as a private plunge pool and permanent wood-fired hot tub. Easy access to the forest trail is via the gate alongside the cottage.

Percale linen, bath towels and soaps, as well as free Wi-Fi are included with your stay.

Pastures Cottage

Welcome to our beautiful, newly built four-sleeper. This special unit is, in fact, built within one of our grazing pastures and frequently has very curious Oakhurst cows come up to the fence to welcome our new guests.

Pastures Cottage has two spacious queen bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. Both bedrooms and the living space have large sliding windows, boasting beautiful views of the rolling pastures and mountains. The living room and one of the two bedrooms open up onto an expansive wooden deck, offering incredible, uninterrupted views.

This unit has a large built-in braai, a secluded outdoor shower and a private wood-fired hot tub, located just a step off the stoep. We provide a generous amount of complimentary wood, so you can get the braai and hot tub going as soon as you arrive!

Pastures Cottage boasts the perfect balance of indoor and outdoor living and dining and is certainly the perfect place to find peace and tranquillity away from the daily hustle and bustle. This is a fully self-catering unit that offers everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Percale linen, bath towels and soaps, as well as free Wi-Fi, are included with your stay.

Isak’s Eden

After a complete renovation, Isaks Eden is ready to welcome guests for the first time since 2020! Tucked away in the peaceful tranquillity of Oakhurst, this charming retreat offers the perfect blend of privacy, comfort, and farm life serenity. Whether you’re seeking a cozy family retreat, a romantic escape for two, or a fun getaway with friends, this versatile space is suited to all.

With two beautifully appointed bedrooms and two modern bathrooms, Isaks Eden sleeps four, providing ample space for everyone to unwind.

Two decks offer sun-filled spots throughout the day, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or evening drinks while soaking in the tranquillity.

Relax in the wood-fired hot tub, fire up the built-in braai for a delicious meal, or indulge in a refreshing outdoor shower.

The large garden offers plenty of space to relax, with a private pasture view for a true escape into farm life.

The Cottages

Our Farm Cottages have been a part of Oakhurst for the past 40 years.

Kween’s Kaya, Awie’s Attic and Lenie’s Lair are set along the edge of a section of forest, intersected by a gurgling stream that flows during the rainy periods. The cottages are about 15 metres apart, separated by hedges, and have a large lawned area in front of them. They’re all a stone’s throw from the action, with the forest walking trail and communal braai area right there.

Each cottage is fully set up for self-catering, with a well-equipped kitchen and cosy living area with wooden floors. The living area, in turn, opens out onto a large wooden deck and braai area. This is the spot where you can either enjoy a good meal around the large wooden table or simply enjoy some of Oakhurst’s fine mountain air while getting stuck into a good book. For those who are after a wood-fired hot tub, each unit has its own hot tub installed on the patio.

Garden Route winters can be cold, and a fire roaring in the kitchen’s wood-burning stove sets the perfect atmosphere for cosy farm winters.

Schoolyard Cottages

PLEASE NOTE: The Schoolyard units are semi-detached, meaning you’re within close proximity to your neighbours. The lawned area in front of the units is communal. Should you want more privacy, we’d advise booking The Forge, Pastures Cottage, the Farm Cottages or Isak’s Eden.

Once the school for Oakhurst’s farm children, this building has been lovingly restored and converted into three character-packed, semi-detached units, each with a double and twin bedroom.

The three units, namely Landon’s Loft, Holly’s Hangout and Anna’s Apartment, each sleep five guests in total. They have one double room, plus a second bedroom with a single bed and a set of bunk beds with a ladder. The units share a full-length covered patio, with views out over the farm and mountains in the distance.

Holly’s Hangout and Anna’s Apartment are ideal for families or groups sharing, as these two units are connected via internal doors. All units have indoor fireplaces, independent braai areas, kitchenettes and a bathroom with a shower.

The Schoolyard puts you within easy reach of the farm shop and within walking distance of the farm dam and swimming pool. You’re also guaranteed a front-row seat from your patio as the Oakhurst herd passes by enroute to the dairy at milking time. With those gorgeous rural views, fresh country air and a setting like this, you’ll wonder how the kids managed to concentrate during their school day.
