Silvermine Nature Reserve

Silvermine Nature Reserve

Incorporated into the Table Mountain National Park, the Silvermine Nature Reserve stretches from Kalk Bay through to Constantiaberg. It gets its name from the Silvermine River which starts in the reserve and runs down to Clovelly. The reserve is an important conservation area for indigenous fynbos plants in the area as well as various small animals Hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, picnicking, bird watching, as well as exploring a number of sandstone cave systems are all just a few of the things you can do, and all only 20 minutes from the town centre. In the southern part of the reserve there is even a hike up the back of Table Mountain, but this is recommended only for the fitter hiker. Take a short drive and experience this truly remarkable natural, scenic, historical, cultural and recreational asset.
