The capital of the Kruger National Park is Skukuza, located in the southern region of the Kruger Park, and situated on the southern banks of the Sabie River, Skukuza Rest Camp serves as the Kruger Park headquarters, and is the main hub for nature conservation. Game watching is why guests come to Skukuza, as well as for the interesting Skukuza village life. Here you will find museums, Skukuza cottages, huts, restaurants, shops, facilities for day visitors, camping and caravan sites, a petrol station, vehicle emergency service, car hire, an airport, a post office, a bank, a doctor and a laundromat - just about everything you will need to sustain you while on your Kruger Park adventure.
Besides exceptional Big 5 game viewing, Skukuza offers guests a wealth of knowledge to be gained in the information center, with lectures in the nearby environmental education centre. A museum has been constructed at the railway siding, which was used on the Selati line in the 1920's. You can have a meal in a restaurant housed in two old railway carriages from the same period. Also worth a visit is the Campbell 1929 Hut Museum. This National Monument was one of the first tourist attractions to be established in Skukuza Camp, and houses interesting relics from the period. (All facilities are Skukuza wheelchair friendly)
Then golf at Skukuza Golf Course - a magnificent 9-hole (18-tee) course situated on the outskirts of Skukuza Rest Camp, and since the course is not fenced-in, uninvited spectators are a common sight; hippo, impala, warthog and baboons to mention but a few.
