The old Boksburg law court in church street was designed in 1890 by Sytze Wierda, who at the time was the chief architect of the ZAR's Public Works Department. Building comenced on the 15 October 1890 and was completed by April 1891. Before being commisioned by the Boksurg Municipality in 1958 for various community organisations the building was used by the magistrate and his staff.
The building was delcared a national monument in March 1963.
