Only 20km Potchefstroom on the Carletonville Road near the Boskop Dam, you will find a 540 hectare wild animal park, Buffelsvlei Wild Animal Park. That is 540 hectares of South African wilderness, filled with a large variety of wildlife and beautiful birds. Animals in the park include, Steenbok, Ostrich, Common Duiker, Reedbuck, Impala, Springbuck, Blesbuck, Black Wildebeest, Waterbuck, Gemsbok, Rooi Hartebeest, Kudu, Eland, Zebra, Giraffe, Fallow Deer or Takbok, Barbery Sheep, Wild Boar, Jackal and Rooicat. And all of these are there for you to experience up close and personal. There are a number of different ways to explore the park, you can experience it on a Guided Game Drive, on horseback or even quad bike, while the fitter would enjoy hiking or even cycling. High up on Buffelsvleis highest hill you will find a lookout tower which affords visitors a 360 degree view of the scenery and wildlife in the park.

Apart from the regular game viewing experience, Buffelsvlei offers the option of a traditional African Hunting Safari. Whether you are a professional or just out for your first hunt, the parks experienced guides and decent equipment ensure your hunt will be one to be remembered. If hunting is not your game there are also other shooting activities at Buffelsvlei, such as target shooting, clay pigeon shooting or even paintball.

If it a team building event, a conference, a wedding, or even just a party, Buffelsvlei has the facilities to make sure it is an outstanding function. For team building events the park has an obstacle course in the Eucalyptus forest as well as a dam which is suitable for all kinds of water activities such as float building. There are also facilities for playing sports such as rugby, volleyball or swimming. The function hall is the perfect setting for year-end functions, weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties, entertainment events and can be customised and decorated to suit your requirements. The hall is fully equipped and can seat up to 150 guests comfortably. Couple the Function hall with the small chapel on the property and you have the perfect venue for your Out of Africa wedding. For those just interested in hosting a small seminar or conference of up to 24 people, the conference facilities are fully equipped with an overhead projector, a big screen, flip charts etc.

Buffelsvlei also provides the taste of Africa in their Country Lodge around a large luxurious table next to the sun-flooded glass door. There are also various venues which can be used for true South African menus, such as Braaivleis, Sheep on Spit and Potjie Kos. For large group catering it is requested that visitors book in advance.

Directions from Johannesburg

Follow the N1 south (Bloemfontein) out of the city
Take the N12 Kimberley off-ramp to Potchefstroom.
Follow the road past Westonaria (appr. 30km) and turn right onto the Carltonville R501 road.
Carry on with this road past Carltonville (appr. 30km) until you see the turn-off to Witpoortjie/Rysmierbult on your right-hand side where the Mooirivier runs into Boskop Dam.
Carry on past this turn-off and you will find the white entrance walls to Buffelsvlei approximately 1km further on your left-hand side.
Alternatively, instead of turning off to Carltonville on R501 road, carry on with the N12 road right up to the first traffic lights in Potchefstroom at the Technical Highschool (Tegniese Hoerskool) and turn right.
Carry on with this road up to the T-junction and turn right onto the R501 road from Potchefstroom to Carltonville.
The Buffelsvlei gate entrance will appear on your right-hand side after approximately 15km from the T-junction.

Directions from Klerksdorp

Follow the N12 north-east to Potchefstroom (appr. 55km) , go straight through Potchefstroom to the last robot/traffic light with the Technical Highschool (Tegniese Hoerskool) to your left-hand side.
Turn left at this traffic light and drive past the entrance of Technical Highschool (Tegniese Hoerskool) on your right-hand side.
Carry on with this road over the bridge crossing the railway line up to the R501 T-junction.
Turn right at this junction on R501 from Potchefstroom to Carletonville.
The Buffelsvlei gate entrance will appear on your right-hand side after approximately 15km from the T-junction.
