THE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL PRESENTED BY OLA 2017
South Africa's premier strawberry and lifestyle event, the Strawberry Festival
presented by Ola, kicks off the school holidays on 30 September to 01 October
2017 at Redberry Farm in George.
There are over 50 attractions and programme highlights to look forward to
featuring music, culinary, sports and family entertainment, centred around the
icon of the event, fabulous strawberries!
The weekend has a strong focus on family fun with a diverse programme catering
to both adults and children. Classic family activities include a 5km trail
run-walk for age 9+, rides on the Redberry Express mini train, ponies, pedal go
carts, boats and bubble ball, an outdoor kids playground with inflatables such
as the giant slide, a jumping castle assortment, gladiators, sumo suits, bucking
bull and target shooting, kids Strawberry Eat Off! Competitions, face painters,
arts and crafts as well as a furry friend dog agility show. Exciting new items
added to the line-up are the Ace Models Miss Strawberry pageant, puppet and
clown shows, a MTB family fun ride and Mascot March.
Discovering the secrets of a strawberry at the Strawberry Festival presented by
Ola is an all-day process! Visit the Strawberry Emporium where strawberries are
served in a multitude of delectable ways, go strawberry picking in the fields
with the Outeniqua Mountains and country landscape as your backdrop, enter the
Strawberry Eat Off! and stomping competitions, shop the Farm Stall filled with
strawberry products and decor, order a delicious strawberry cocktail and, for
the adventurous at heart, make sure to explore the largest permanent hedge maze
in the Southern Hemisphere with seven secret strawberry stations!
Other event attractions include culinary pairings for coffee, wine and craft
beer, a country market with more than 80 outdoor food and hand-crafted product
stalls, 9km trail run through the strawberry fields, live artist shows by local
and national Afrikaans singers, dance performances on the outside stage and a
live Algoa FM broadcast.
If you're in the Garden Route over the October school holidays, or looking for
travel ideas for some family fun, make sure not to miss this annual country life
and good food family weekend!
