Nagle Dam and Game Reserve lies cradled in the Valley of a Thousand Hills at
the base of KwaZulu Natal's own "Table Mountain". Located less than an hour away
from both Pietermaritzburg and Durban, the dam and nature reserve which is
managed by private wildlife and ecotourism management company, Msinsi Holdings,
and offers its visitors tranquil picnic spots, excellent fishing and canoeing,
as well as nature trails and game viewing.
The 3500 hectare wildlife reserve is home to a variety of
wildlife including zebra, impala, duiker and various other antelope, as
well as a wide variety of bird species. The dam is home to various species of
fish, and has gained a good reputation as a bass fishing destination. All forms
of sailing and canoeing are permitted on the dam, but bass fishermen may only
use sneaker motors. Also found at the dam is a fish hatchery, which offers
visitors interesting and informative tours, however booking is essential.
A
fully equipped conference centre complete with catering, accommodating up to
18 in total, is also available. Nagle Dam and Game Reserve serves as an
ideal venue for team building events and workshops.
